With a passion for experimentation and collaboration, Olivia (Liv) Castor is a young musician with an ever-growing catalogue of knowledge and expertise in many musical genres. Whilst honing her skills as a classical pedal harpist at The Peabody Conservatory studying with Ruth Inglefield, Liv was drawn back to the lever harp and the folk and early music of her youth when she joined the Peabody Renaissance Ensemble under the direction of Mark Cudek. She credits her experience in PRE (all eight semesters of her undergraduate studies) with transforming the direction of her musical career and shaping her into the innovative artist she is today. She won Second Prize at the World Harp Congress in Hong Kong in 2017, and has performed at the Bloomington Early Music Festival as well as at the Conciertos de la Villa de Santo Domingo Festival in the Dominican Republic. Liv was also a member of the Indianapolis Early Music Festival Band for the “Marginalia” program in 2021. Since graduating from Peabody in 2019, Liv has continued to broaden her horizons into many far-flung areas of the musical world. Whether rocking out to Breton dance tunes, singing in Scottish Gaelic, arranging Sephardic music for small ensemble, or reveling in the beauty of Renaissance polyphony, Liv finds her place in all her musical endeavors with enthusiasm and dedication.
